Researching financial harm in young people and how we can prevent it.
I'm Katie Thomas. I research how families communicate about money, what financial harms young people face today, and how education and support can help. My work is research-led and people-centred with real-world outcomes at its core.
What I do
Research
Academic research on financial harms, family financial behaviour, and youth banking design.
Speaking
Talks and panels for conferences, organisations, schools, and events.
Consulting
Research-informed advice for financial services, charities, and policy teams.
Featured work
Workshops
I've delivered challenge-based workshops in collaboration with Bath College, using these sessions to bring awareness of online financial harms among young people. These workshops provide an engaging, hands on education on financial harms while promoting creative problem-solving and presentation skills in students.
